Great conference! Thanks for all the hard work and for the risk of finding a new venue. It worked for me.

Definitely enjoyed the conference--thanks to all who organized the event and thanks to all who participated! Here's a link to the materials on Teaching Literature in the 21st Century that Jay Stott and I presented: http://thepapergraders.org/?p=150

This is my CLAS presentation entitled "Writing Conference Interruptions: Can They Be Productive?", based on a research project I conducted with Dr. Monette McIver last year in two third grade classrooms.

I changed my lesson plans for the following week based on the activities Ernest described in the morning keynote. I also have used his ideas as a means to build a students literacy team at a high school where I am working.

I was a bit disappointed that more of the pre-service teachers didn't attend the meeting. To my mind, if being a part of our professional organizations is important, than participating is important too.

Terrific conference--well organized.  The campus seemed to be a convenient and welcoming venue.  The sessions were thoughtfully prepared, and thought-provoking.  The membership meeting was more relaxed at the end of the day, and gave us a chance to learn more about the affiliate groups.

Ernest Morrell *was* amazing and inspiring. Several of we attendees from MSCD were blown away by his passion for education and empowering students to have a voice. We were all ready to go take on the world after hearing him speak.

As it turned out, we were lucky to hear Ernest twice!  The student projects he talked about Saturday morning have me thinking as well.  All based on a simple truth -- Once you engage kids in things that matter to them, they learn.  My favorite line (among many) of Ernest's was:  "If kids can write their lives, they can rewrite their lives."

As always, energized after the conference.

I thought that Ernest Morrell was phenomenal!! I learned so much and left with my head buzzing with ideas. I have been talking about the conference all week!
